What equipment do I need for doing a Law degree?

Q: Hi. I start my LLB Law degree (UK) next week and I still need to buy my equipment. Does anybody know what equipment I should buy? So far, I have pens, paper and books. Also, let me know if you have done, or are doing, a law degree please. Thanks for any helpful answers!

A: You don't actually need anything else, although there are 'nice to have' things Top of that list would be a memory stick, for storing your work. They're cheap now, so you can get a decent sized one. Set up a 'professional' email address. You will get a Uni one, but some contacts you'll want to keep long after uni and this is the easiest way of doing it. By professional I mean something like johnsmith@yahoo.co.uk. You don't want to be sending CVs to employers from hotchick@hotmail.com! Whether you need a computer or not really depends on your resources and what the Uni provides. Some have excellent computing labs that are open all hours - some don't. You might also find a voice recorder handy for recording lectures - especially if your notetaking isn't that good. A mobile phone is useful, not just for socialising, but some lecturers will actually text you if lectures are cancelled at the last moment or there's other important information. Make sure that your stuff is insured. Student accommodation gets burgled more than average and insurance isn't something students often think about. I did a law degree a few years ago
