what do you do in a study group?

Q: please nothing stupid like "study" im talking about the different activities you can do to help each other.

A: In my mathematics/science/engineering classes, generally, before a test, we look over past exams and try to work out the problems. If we are just meeting up for a problem set, we work out all the problems we can BEFORE the group meets and then check and ask further questions if we do not understand a specific problem. I find that study groups are beneficial in terms of specific problems, general concepts should be questions to ask the professor. In my humanities classes, we will talk about what the professor discussed that day. If we are having difficulty with a reading, we will have specific quotes we bring to discussion. If a paper is due, we will ask each other to read the papers. I hope this helps!
