Q: The cosmetology school I want to go to is 17,000 and they offer financial Aid. I've never gone to any secondary school so my knowledge of financial aid is minimal. I do not have a job and I live with my boyfriend and his daughter. My boyfriend pays for everything and times are rough right now for both of us. I live in Michigan. Can someone without a job qualify for financial aid? and what is a Pell Grant? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
A: First of you would want to apply for the fafsa application. You would need to go www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you are under the age of 24 you need to use your parents tax information. Even though you might be living on your own the federal govt still sees you as a dependent of your parents. All finaid is based off your income. The less you make the more chance you have at qualifying for the pell grant. So you would use your 2007 taxes to fill it out. If you didn't earn anything then you would just put all zeros for the application. Pell grant is money that is given to the student based on need, and that is money that you don't have to pay back.
